Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father, a carnival barker, was killed as a young girl, requiring her mother to help support the family by being waitress or cleaning lady. Ruth was raised in the tenement area of poverty in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was educated. She quit the school she was attending within two years of her education in pursuit of acting as a profession. Her path did not come without challenges. In New York, her first job involved posing stills for crime magazines. acting work she wanted eluded. Then, after a period as a hat-wearing club girl and a club hat girl, she made the decision to go home to the United States and quit her job. She made ends meet as an usherette in the morning, while in the evening, she performed with the New England Repertory Company, her first steady acting job. She studied drama at the Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
